DADDY’S HOME REVIEWED

“Daddy’s Home” is a funny movie. The soft kind of funny that doesn’t tug too hard at the brain, but you’re left appreciating seeing two people play off each other. Martin and Lewis spent their last decade doing this kind of thing, so there’s a history there. Paramount was right to fire this off during the Holidays, as it hits that family itch while playing funny enough for the 13-14 year old crowd. We can’t forget about our middle schoolers!

Thankfully, the film plays short and knows how to play to its strengths. It’s just that it came out in an exceptionally strong period where it got blanked out by Oscar fare and the Star Wars juggernaut. If you’re having family over for Easter or Passover or whatever Egg related event you celebrate, then it’s something to put on. Casual viewers would do better to rent first. Your tolerance of Ferrell and Wahlberg should dictate your next move.
