SHOW ME A HERO

“Show Me A Hero” is a testament to the miracle of modern premium television. It’s like the cinema of the 1970s has come to life in our homes. Over six parts and multiple actors delivering their best work, we see what brought down the Koch administration of the late 1980s in NYC. Racial issues, issues of class and the general desire of just living a life well lived are addressed. Luckily, you have six hours to take it all in.

I know that I annoy a ton of readers when I talk about how I only liked Season 4 of “The Wire” and Simon’s work here shows why. When you step away from street crime and address the systems that breed it, you find a new truth. Oscar Isaac delivers a Golden Globe winning performance as the mayor of Yonkers and it’s well deserved. When we have people who speak truth to power in reality, their story deserves to be seen, heard and believed. Great stuff all around.

The Blu-Ray comes with an extended featurette documentary looking into the history behind the series. The A/V Quality is quite stunning for a drama. The 1080p transfer pops even with its period flair. Plus, the DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track makes every ounce of dialogue sing. It’s worth a purchase.

Release Date: 2/2/16

SHOW ME A HERO is also available on DIGITAL HD!
