Go on and eat your soup for daddy.
“The House Where Evil Dwells” has been one of those Samurai Ghost flicks that I have kept on rotation during the VHS days. Edward Albert spends his time trying to convince his family that it was cool to move to Japan. Unfortunately, their house is haunted by a ghost that murdered his wife and her love. Giant crabs, soup faces and other monstrosities haunt the family. All the while, the audience sees these apparitions clear as die, while they seem to elude the cast.
“Ghost Warrior” is an amazing Charles Band production about a 400Â year old samurai awakening in 1986 NYC. Well, two skiers find his body and bring him to New York. Take that for what you will, but the violence is on-point. Gang members get decimated, while locals mistake him for Toshiro Mifune. It’s a pretty solid affair all around.
The Blu-Ray comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is pretty sharp. The 1080p transfers make the films look better than ever. The same goes for the DTS-HDÂ 2.0 master audio track. Everything is upfront, but it’s true to the era. In the end, it’s worth a purchase to cult cinema fans.
