Baseball is serious in Manipur.
“The Only Real Game” serves as a feel good documentary about a place where things are bad. The village of Manipur has discovered the love of baseball and uses it as a way to escape warfare and escalating HIV/AIDS outbreaks. The game was introduced by American soldiers during World War II, but now it’s become a weird bit of public PR for American Baseball. The documentary follows two MLB representatives as they arrive and work to train the coaches. In 82 minutes, you don’t get a ton of information outside of a travel guide. The DVD comes with no special features.
