“Falling Star” is a charged period piece about Spain the late 19th century. Focusing closely on the election of the Spanish King, Luis Minarro creates a look at a world ruled by protocol. The King is a foreigner trapped inside of a castle, while minister dictate his moves. There’s a sly bit of eroticism mixed with political intrigue. While not for everyone, it’s quite worth checking out.
The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is strong for a Spanish flick. The transfer is clean for standard definition, but there’s no solid depth. The Dolby 5.1 track works well. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.
