“3 Hearts” is about the dangers of interpersonal relations. Two French people meet on a whim and then depart each other’s company. Now, the guy married the woman’s sister and things are rough. Unfortunately, the one night stand has blossomed into…let’s bang this mother out. It’s neat how so much French cinema leads into affairs.
Charlotte Gainsbourg is a capable lead, but I never saw anyone else matching her. Catherine Deneuve felt like she was in the movie as an obligation. Hell, France marches her out for roles in the same way American productions wheel out Morgan Freeman. If you can handle nearly 2 hours of this, then you’re in luck.
The Blu-Ray comes with a Director’s Talk interview and a trailer as the special features. The A/V Quality is strong for modern French cinema. The 1080p transfer plays dark at times, but it’s never terrible. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track is supportive. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.
