LOVERS, THE

“The Lovers” opens on a modern diver becoming brain dead while rescuing his wife. He wakes up in 1778 India, because that’s a thing that happens in Joffe movies now. Josh Hartnett is serviceable in the lead, as he plays around with the script and has chemistry with his Bollywood co-star. Outside of that, the movie is gibberish. What makes it funnier is that I watched this alongside the equally bizarre Comet. You’ll have to check out the review for “Comet” to see what makes that take much stronger.

The Blu-Ray comes with a making-of featurette and a trailer as the special features. The A/V Quality is stunning for an indie feature. The 1080p transfer pops in a way that we only see for the older Joffe titles. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track is supportive. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to the curious.
