THE PLOT THUS FAR
Go with David Pogue on a fantastic journey through the revolutionary technologies that are making our lives better by working Faster, Safer, Colder, and Wilder. From quantum computers to maglev trains, and from increasing the speed of a stock transaction to decreasing the risk posed by an earthquake, emerging technologies are changing our world.
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Making Stuff 2″ follows David Pogue, as he continues to find out how new inventions are making the world better. I love the focus on technology and mechanics being created to devise a structure that improves the general quality of life. Pogue hosts four specials that take up two discs and actually give us pretty well defined looks at everything from safe tech production to energy conservation.
The material is just strong, but I can see how it might overwhelm most people. Not everyone heads out and picks up discs that try to make them think. But, I guess that I expect too much out of people. PBS knows what works, but I wish they would start to aggressively start investing in Blu-Ray releases. The nature stuff is amazing, but we need more. So much more.
The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is strong with a supportive transfer and a Dolby audio track. The Dolby track doesn’t get much back channel action. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans of amazing science.
