THE PLOT THUS FAR
The action-packed Megaforce saga continues as best friends Troy, Noah, Emma, Gia and Jake continue their mission to defend our world from evil insectoid monsters! It will take friendship, teamwork and awesome new Megazords to get queen warrior Beezara to buzz off, silence alien rockstar-wannabe Dizchord, clean up toxic mutant monsters Bluefur, Bigs and Hisser, and face Creepox in a fight to the finish! And when all seems lost, a mysterious new ally emerges – ROBO KNIGHT! With the help of this transforming robot Ranger’s Vulcan Cannon and Lion Zord, Earth’s mightiest defenders will never surrender!
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“The Mysterious Robo Knight” is the latest Megaforce saga. No, there’s no Barry Bostwick in this one. What we get is modern Power Rangers slapping each other around and assembling into Asian mechas. It’s fun to watch if you’re doing a Ritalin bump in between your Teddy Grahams benders. Everyone else will pass on it. But, it’s not something for the typical AndersonVision reader.
There are only four episodes on the release, but the box is so big. The A/V Quality is strong enough for a show like this. Still, the Dolby 5.1 track seems artificially aggressive. The back channels don’t really reflect what’s onscreen. The DVD sports no other special features. I’m not sure if your kids want to hear Power Rangers commentary or something. I’m must letting you know what’s up.
I’m not a big fan of the Power Rangers and I don’t know their chronology. Still, I have to ask what happened to Rita Repulsa? She seemed like a big deal and she was in the 20th Century Fox movie that hit nearly 20 years ago. Does that not matter or is this a complicated Transformers Generations style thing? In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to parents that just want their kids to shut up.
