Summer Days with Coo is a family friendly film about the Kappa. The Kappa is a mythological creature in Japanese culture. It’s a turtle with a Justin Bieber classic era haircut. After he does his best E.T., the little Kappa does his best to bond with modern culture. The problem is that he’s a baby and doesn’t know quite how to gel with people.
The material is pretty typical. How many times can you tell a story about a strange creature befriending kids? Still, I dig the little turtle guy.
I’d be amiss if I didn’t say how GKids is keeping informed on the latest anime releases. There is literally so much quality material coming out from various animators that would normally slip past me. Do I think it’s great? Does it matter? I’m just glad to be able to check it out.
The Blu-ray comes with theatrical trailers as the sole special features. The A/V Quality is pretty spectacular. The 1.78:1 transfer pops and the DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track continues that recent GKids streak. Check out the screen shots!
