SHERLOCK GNOMES REVIEWED
“Sherlock Gnomes” is a bizarre film that I can’t find any comparison to in the last few decades. Specifically, when a low-key non franchise hops studios and tries to have a dramatic plot shift. The last time it was a story of romance between two Gnome kingdoms. Now, they have to call in Sherlock Gnomes to save their friends. What would make for a fun TV special is trying as a film. But, you get new music from Elton John and Mary J. Blige.
I’m not sure what spurred Paramount to take a chance on this one. When the first film came out via Disney, I didn’t see kids falling over themselves for it. Hell, that FOX movie Epic had more of a fanbase. As of now, we have two films about Gnomes that just exist. In an era where films cost more and more, I don’t know if just existing is enough to warrant a film’s release. Kid movies are a mess to figure out and there’s a book to be written about their history.
I just don’t get why some studios take a chance on the lower tier ones.
