LAVALANTULA

Steve Guttenberg reunites the best of the Police Academy to save Los Angeles.

It's the Police Academy All-Stars vs. Lava Spiders.

“Lavalantula” entertained the hell out of me. A dormant volcano tears open Santa Monica and now the Guttenberg has to fight the lava spewing spiders that erupt out of the great. Teaming up with the survivors of Lasard’s reign at the Police Academy, Guttenberg fights back-to-back against these devilish arachnids. Ham from “The Sandlot” also shows up despite the frequent attempts on his life by Smalls.

The DVD comes with no special features. But, I’m starting to become a fan of Mike Mendez. Between his segment in Tales of Halloween and this film, I’m enjoying this return to well-made schlock. There’s a talent to making these kinds of films and so many people blow it. “Lavalantula” doesn’t blow the promise of lava spiders forcing your favorite actors of yesteryear to reunite. Honestly, I imagine the entire experience as the Left 4 Dead game I wanted, but never received. I’d recommend a purchase.
