A FEW WORDS ABOUT THAT 70S SHOW

“That 70s Show” started right when I was getting out of High School. Mein Gott, that makes me feel old. Flipping back through the first two years, the show feels so dated and cutesy. While I guess that was an effort to evoke the era, this is still a show that dedicated a 1/6th of every episode to the kids getting baked in the basement. That part was honest at least, but the rest of it felt like generic sitcom fodder. I still don’t get why my wife is obsessed with this show.

Eight seasons of this show feels a bit much. Especially since most of that last season was just awful. While the first seven years were consistent and actually developed characters, that eighth year just brought things to a stop. It was as bad as Ted McGinley showing up on Happy Days and steering that show right off a cliff. What can I say about the show that hasn’t been said?

I wasn’t a fan, but I didn’t hate it. However, I appreciate the packaging job that Mill Creek has given the release. All eight seasons are available in slim case sleeves inside of a larger box designed to evoke vintage LP storage. If you have the old FOX DVD releases, this smaller design will help save space in your home theater. Plus, the outer case is fuzzy. Love that tactile response!

The Blu-Ray set comes with a brand new HD interactive trivia game. You also get audio commentary on select episodes, featurettes, cast flashbacks, a series retrospective, bloopers, season overviews, photo gallery and original promo spots as the special features. The A/V Quality is on par with the first two season releases. The 1080p transfer is sharp, as well as the DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.

RELEASE DATE: 11/3/2015
