“The Last Ship” has an interesting concept. A lone warship out at sea, as civilization crumbles due to some killer pandemic. What hurts the show is that it might’ve worked better as a mini-series. I have high hopes for the second season by the end of the first. However, it took quite awhile to get the momentum going. I find that it found its purpose when it started to streamline concepts.
I get that “The Walking Dead” is a major concept and TV outlets are trying to copy it. It’s just that the show succeeds when it focuses on the characters and moves away from the big picture. When you dwell too long on the global conflict, things start turning into a lackluster Cussler novel. The Blu-Ray comes with a Digital HD copy, commentaries, character profiles and featurettes as the special features. The A/V Quality sports a dynamic scope 1080p transfer and a killer DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans.
