JOE MANDE’S AWARD-WINNING COMEDY SPECIAL REVIEWED
Joe Mande offers up a decent “Award-Winning Comedy Special”. Honestly, anyone that starts a fight with La Croix can’t be that bad. The hour long special on Netflix relies on Mande’s calm comedic approach to hook the audience. I don’t care for the award show framing device. Mande’s funny enough to sell the stand-up act on his own. Between the jokes about Shark Tank and eating pot brownies before appearing on Huckabee, Mande shows a winning personality that should charm any casual viewer.
The problem with catching a comedian near the start of their recorded shows is that you instantly want to compare it to something. I grew up as a comedy nerd in the 1990s and got spoiled on everyone having 30 minutes every other year. But, that’s the way it goes for talented young comedians. Modern sitcoms chain them to writing rooms and people in the middle of the country struggle to see them. Take an hour of your weekend and check out Joe Mande. What else are you going to do? Netflix is losing all of the FOX cartoons that you binge watch.
