ICETASTROPHE 74

ICETASTROPHE

“Icetastrophe” is a movie that most throw under the SyFy Channel bus. What I saw was a rather cheap film that tried to do its best to embrace its humble origins. However, it still didn’t do anything that I haven’t seen in any other film. You had some cool kill cools and the makeup was pretty strong for a production like this. It’s just that after the 87 minutes was up, I couldn’t remember a detail of what I had seen.

There are certain films that make me cringe when I see them come up. But, I tackle them because I know there is an audience for everything. After all, it’s not like the production companies tackle these movies expecting to lose their money. Somebody watches Sharknado and the terrible counterparts that are “SO BAD, IT’S GOOD”. That mantra is a cop out, as things are only qualified by not making apologies for their nature. Celebrate the schlock and don’t try to pretend it’s something else.

The DVD comes with no special features. The A/V Quality is typical for standard definition. The transfer is a little flat, but the Dolby track is supportive. In the end, I’d recommend a rental or stream to the curious.
