Facing Monsters has been called the Free Solo of surfing documentaries. That’s a pretty tall order as surfing has had a ton of killer documentaries.
Still, the documentary is helmed by the guy that made Tanna. That’s enough to get me to watch it. All of the comparisons to other things I like are just a hat on a hat.
My relationship with nature documentaries is bizarre. I find the actual animal and landscape stuff to be incredibly boring. But, extreme sports and stunts in a natural habitat get me interested.
