Djon Africa is a travel movie about a young man going back to Africa to find his roots and father. Coming out of Portugal, this is a quiet little movie that would have snuck past so many people. All the while, I’m wondering why I haven’t heard of Filipa Reis before this. Directing a road trip movie in such an interconnected age is quite the feat.
The DVD comes with no special features. However, the A/V Quality is fairly typical for an Indiepix release. While a commentary takes time, I would have loved to hear a scholarly take on the material. I’ll take what I can get and recommend that you check it out. Djon Africa is part of Indiepix Unlimited and can also be viewed on Prime Video.
