“Beyond the Reach” should’ve been far better than it was. I mean, I love movies about Michael Douglas hunting people and other animals. That being said, the sad riffs on “Naked Prey” and “Most Dangerous Game” don’t add up to much. While I appreciate young Jeremy Irvine’s work, I feel that the guy was wasted here. That’s not to say that I’m giving Michael Douglas a pass. I’ve got a laundry list of aging Hollywood actors that could’ve tackled the role of mean old CEO that wants to prove his virility by shooting things in the face.
The Blu-Ray comes with a Digital HD copy, featurettes and a commentary as the special features. The A/V Quality is strong for a low budget release. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track really pops. If that wasn’t enough, you have a stellar 1080p transfer. This also happens to be the first Ronny Cox performance that I’ve seen in awhile. Good for him. If you’re still reading this, I’d recommend a rental or a stream first.
