ARROW: THE COMPLETE FOURTH REVIEWED
“Arrow” enters its fourth year with a downturn. Where else could the show go after handling The League of Assassins? Merlyn taking over for Ras Al Ghul brought Ollie back. But, so did H.I.V.E. and Damien Darhk. If that wasn’t enough, this was the crossover and spin-off season. After all, CW wanted us all to remember that “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow” were happening this year. Did I mention the Island flashbacks? Well, we had some lengthy Island flashbacks.
Many long-term fans hated this season, but I feel it was needed. If DC TV is going to last long-term, we need world building. The island flashbacks are going to end next year and that’s great. However, Arrow has to have a reason to exist. The Flash has science gone awry, so how long does a rich kid archer last? Say what you will about Hawkeye, but Hawkeye has a killer edge. What will drive Ollie Queen to survive? We don’t get the answers this year, as Queen spins his time on his heels. But, I have a great feeling about what’s coming next.
