REBELS: SEASON FOUR REVIEWED
“Rebels: Season Four” delivered what needed to happen and what we didn’t expect. Still, I want to see what comes of Thrawn and Ezra next. Slight spoiler there, but when you deal with a prequel series…it just happens. Hell, the last few episodes of the series even through a construct that changes Star Wars as we know it. Will the material ever get followed up in a future series or film? Who knows?
Rebels has been a fun ride, but it wisely knew when to end things. Such is the danger of playing the action so close to Episode IV. Eventually, Luke has to take the call to action and begin the Original Trilogy story. So, what to make of the Ghost crew during those adventures. Wisely, showrunner Dave Filoni knew what would work. That being said, why introduce time travel now?
If you spend years building a world within a world, then keep your characters in that world. Although you gave us a cheat to bring Ahsoka back into the present day, it undermines everything that we’ve seen in Star Wars so far. According to Rebels, there are devices that a Force user can use to either pull people out of danger or see events before they happen.
Consider this. That artifact existed months before A New Hope started and the Emperor had knowledge of it. How or why didn’t Palpatine use the device to stop the Rebels, corrupt Luke, etc etc etc? I can’t wait to see what comes next, as I want to see what Filoni can do in the Resistance era. Check it out.
