THE MIMIC REVIEWED
“The Mimic” is a Korean ghost story that will make you scared of random kids in the woods. Taking a cue from Korean folk tales, this is yet another slow-burn horror movie. Throughout the film, I kept wondering if I had seen this before. There’s something about world cinema films diving hard into creepy kids tales that became so commonplace. Is it enough to watch a domestic piece about people freaking out over kids that might be demons?
Hell, they even work a Crouching Tiger reference into the film. I appreciate that Well Go USA is releasing films from the East. I just wish that the efforts were just a hair more selective. Not everything will find a home with Western audiences.
