VIOLENCE IN A WOMEN’S PRISON REVIEWED
“Violence in a Women’s Prison” is an Emanuelle movie. That’s Emanuelle with one M, as the real franchise sported two Ms as copyright law didn’t really exist in international 70s cinema. While Laura Gemser continues her turn as Emanuelle, the film is a hot mess. First off, it’s a male prison and not a women’s prison. Second, this is about the 5th uber erotic women in prison movie I’ve had to watch in the last two weeks. Finally, there is lesbian sex scenes, but it’s shot with the passion of an Ilsa movie.
Bruno Mattei handles this outing, but he does it in a way that plays to his strengths. Feces and rat attacks come up as micro set pieces that redefine what it means to make erotic cinema. Mattei makes the environment a filthy character trying to rub its hands all over Laura Gemser. Still, Gemser survives and makes her way deeper into the erotic filth revelry. Modern audiences will find themselves disgusted to the point that they return to the safe teat of Netflix.
That’s good. We don’t need you here in the depths of movies like this.
