The groundbreaking genealogy series Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. will celebrate its 10th anniversary with an all-new season premiering on PBS in early 2024. Hosted by esteemed Harvard scholar Dr. Gates, the show helps notable figures trace their ancestral histories through DNA analysis and diligent record-hunting.
Season 10 arrives after Finding Your Roots has become a cultural phenomenon, with references across television, viral moments, and countless family mysteries unearthed. This new installment will feature 18 celebrity guests alongside 3 non-celebrity guests chosen through a nationwide search.
The star-studded lineup includes actors Valerie Bertinelli, Danielle Brooks, LeVar Burton, Michael Douglas, Lena Dunham, Brendan Fraser, Tracy Morgan, Ed O’Neill, Bob Odenkirk, Anthony Ramos, Wes Studi, Jesse Williams; comedian Iliza Shlesinger; and musicians Ciara, Sammy Hagar, Alanis Morissette, and Dionne Warwick.
After receiving over 9,000 video submissions, producers also selected 3 fans to have their family histories traced. These everyday guests will appear together in the season finale.
At the helm guiding each discovery is host Henry Louis Gates, Jr., director of Harvard’s Hutchins Center for African & African American Research. He is joined by expert genealogists and DNA specialist CeCe Moore to assemble extensive ancestral profiles.
