The Hustle: Dirty Rotten Equals [Review]

The Hustle is a film I first wrote about during my hell year at Fandom. If you don’t remember that, then good for you. Anyways, people forgot that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It’s fine. The original was a foreign film and most Americans & young people couldn’t be bothered. Hell, most of the younger audience don’t remember Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Enter the gender switch double dip.

Rebel Wilson entertains my wife to an insane degree. I watch her cackle while watching The Pitch Perfect Trilogy and I just don’t get it. There are far more obnoxious things to watch, but I really don’t find White Precious to be that funny. Wilson plays Penny Rust. Penny gets into a con competition with fellow con artist Josephine. This time, they’re targeting an app developer to get to his money.

Anne Hathaway is the kind of person that I just can’t get a read on. When she does amazing work, I love it for 90 days and then I’m left indifferent. I’m not one of the turds that gets angry over how she’s perceived. Yet, I also don’t get her appeal. When she sets about the worst aspects of the film, I look at her and I’m like OF COURSE.

Why is it when you do a gender switch movie, you can’t ever let the female leads be truly nasty? They have to feel bad, lean back and then try to create the softest of endings? Hell, this entire movie is just a giant mix of meh and I guess.

The Hustle comes to Blu-ray with featurettes, commentary and ways to watch on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital. The A/V Quality looks on par with a recent release. The 2.39:1 1080p transfer and DTS-HD 7.1 master audio track are really overpowering. In the end, I’d recommend a stream to fans.
