What is World Press Freedom Day?

World Press Freedom Day, celebrated on May 3rd, reminds us of the fundamental importance of a free press and the sacrifices made by journalists around the globe. Congressman Eric Swalwell, primary sponsor of the H.R.3121 Journalist Protection Act, stated, “You don’t have to sacrifice your life as Anna did, but if you can embody her resilience, continue to push boundaries, and pursue the truth with the same unwavering dedication, then I promise, we’re going to be okay.”
