“Vendetta” is like Prison Break for dummies. Dean Cain knows that The Big Show murdered his wife, so he commits a crime to get sent to the same prison. Inside the big house, the former TV Superman tries to pick a fight with the walking man mountain. Dean Cain almost gets turned into Christopher Reeve before he realizes that it was a bad idea. Dean Cain trains, while we start to realize that The Big Show runs the prison.
The Soska Sisters continue to impress the hell out of me with their directing style. They take equal parts Walter Hill grittiness with documentary realism to make you feel every hit. While they’ve carved out a name for themselves with WWE Films, I’d love to see these ladies get a bigger budget and expand outwards. They’ve got an insane action/horror film in them that demands to make it to the screen.
The Blu-Ray comes with three featurettes as the special features. You also get a Digital HD Ultraviolet copy for those that dig that sort of DRM laden stuff. The A/V Quality is impressive with a rather strong 1080p transfer. Plus, the DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track makes the violence come to life. In the end, I’d recommend a rental.
