The Life of Peter Gottlieb follows the story of a community college professor, Peter Gottlieb, who is reeling from a bitter divorce and teetering on the edge of self-destruction. Just as he hits rock bottom, he finds himself drawn to one of his students, Sabrina Carbonowitz. As their unconventional friendship grows, a series of mysterious disappearances among college students shakes the town, catching the attention of the local police. When Sabrina goes missing, Peter quickly becomes the prime suspect, and the ensuing chaos turns his world upside down. This wild tale is filled with unexpected twists, moments of redemption, a touch of humor, and a lot of heart.
Directed by Samuel Centrella, The Life of Peter Gottlieb was co-written by Centrella, Reuben Barsky, and Giorgio Panetta. The film is produced by Reuben Barsky, Mike Marsdale, Sam Loshiavo, Samuel Centrella, Joe Duva, and Giorgio Panetta. The ensemble cast features Reuben Barsky as Peter Gottlieb, Erica Pappas as Sabrina Carbonowitz, Samuel Centrella as Detective Dan Murphy, Giorgio Panetta as Detective Nicodemo Reno, Greer Barnes as Lieutenant Harvey Mac, and Tonya Pinkins as Dean Fedleman, among others.
“The Life of Peter Gottlieb is a ‘broken love story’ between two lost souls who find each other in a dark world,” said filmmaker Sam Centrella. “We wanted to combine our love for film, romance, danger, a great soundtrack, and comedy to tell a gritty fairytale. Set in the fictional town of Chittenwa, we explore themes of power dynamics, addiction, and intimacy—everything we wanted to see in a movie.”
Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the deal for The Life of Peter Gottlieb directly with the filmmakers and Glen Reynolds of Circus Road Films.
