“Skin Trade” is what happens when you let Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman and Dolph Lundgren team up to power your film with their collective testosterone. I’m a big fan of the director’s previous work on “Beautiful Boxer”, so I figured that I’d give “Skin Trade” a shot. The movie focuses on a cargo container of dead sex workers who arrive dead in New Jersey. The Serbian mafia gets involved, but a cop kills one of them. So, the mafia kills the cop’s family.
This leads to a vengeance trail that leads all the way back to Cambodia and martial arts action. Lundgren fights Jaa and doesn’t get totally destroyed. Perlman chews scenery, while Southeast Asia hopes that you drop your non gross tourist dollars on the beautiful scenic spots. If you’re a fan of Jaa, this is about a mid-level performance from him. If you’re not a fan of Jaa, you’ve got about 12 years of cinema to catch up on before you start this movie.
The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes, interview, commentary and deleted scenes as the special features. The A/V Quality is stunning for an international action flick. The 1080p transfer is near flawless. Plus, the DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track takes the action to all channels. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
