SHOT CALLER REVIEWED
“Shot Caller” feels like it was meant to be an extended TV pilot. I could feel the bones of a TV series really developing and showcasing how prison changes people. Plus, it wouldn’t have to rely on forcing exploitative lesbian sex scenes to milk five or more seasons out of it. I’m looking at you, Netflix! But, what about this film?
Ultimately, it’s a messy movie with a weak main plot that doesn’t get served by 20 sub plots that lead nowhere. Given the strength of the cast, I expected much more. But, expectations only get you so far. Wait for the Redbox.
