“The Royals” is a fictional series about an England where Elizabeth Hurley could be Queen. While the show doesn’t play as a Dystopian Alternate Reality, I’d assume that if Hurley was Queen, then Ke$ha would be the U.S. President. The show is based on the Queen’s desire to keep the current King from abolishing the monarchy. While there might be political drama to be had, this is nothing more than a TMZ addled teenager’s take on international politics.
Over the course of the first season, nothing really changes. There’s a lot of primping and posing, but nothing said matters. While E! has gone to hell in a handbasket over the last decade, this is the lesser evil being aired on the channel. The DVD comes with a Digital Copy and featurettes as the special features. The A/V Quality is sharp for standard definition. The Dolby 5.1 track is supportive. Still, if’s worth a purchase if you like the show.
