“Newhart” kept up the pace throughout its fifth season. The 1986-1987 season saw George come into wealth, while the world seemed to move away from Michael. Dick got in touch with a former teacher and finds the time to defend Larry, Darryl and Darryl against charges of stealing. If this sound boring to you, then you know nothing of the great American sitcoms. What I find shocking is checking the airdates and seeing the large gaps between episodes. Plus, the season usually ended early in April. Does anyone else find that nuts?
