“Man Up” is the most passive romantic comedy I’ve seen in awhile. Taking the concept of a forced blind date to its Nth degree, we stretch a 22 minute premise out to 89 minutes. Simon Pegg and Lake Bell carry the movie on their backs, but it’s not enough to really wow anyone. Fans of both actors will want to give it a shot. Otherwise, I say just dabble around when curious.
The Blu-Ray comes with a gag reel, interview clips and a featurette as the special features. The A/V Quality is pretty solid for a romantic comedy. The 1080p transfer pops where needed. But, the DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track tends to be front heavy. In the end, it’s worth a rental.
