Lucca Comics & Games has unveiled the new poster for its 2024 edition, themed “The Butterfly Effect.” This year’s stunning artwork is designed by the renowned Japanese artist Yoshitaka Amano. Amano has created three unique images for the festival, each representing a different act of this extraordinary event.
Exclusive Art Unveilings
The first image, OUVERTURE, is inspired by Puccini’s Tosca and captures the vibrant energy of the festival and its diverse audience. This image is now available. The second piece, dedicated to Madama Butterfly, will be revealed in September, and the third, linked to Amano’s timeless princess Turandot, will be presented on October 30th.
A Festival of Multisensory Experiences
Lucca Comics & Games continues to be a hub where comics, games, cinema, literature, and music converge. Celebrating the Puccini centenary, this year’s theme also resonates with the “Butterfly Effect” from Chaos Theory, illustrating how small changes can lead to significant consequences. Netflix returns to Lucca with a special event for Squid Game 2. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and stars Lee Jung-jae and Wi Ha-Joon will meet fans on October 31st to share exciting news about the highly anticipated second season.
One Piece 25th Anniversary
Celebrate 25 years of One Piece with special guests Tatsuya Nagamine and Kenji Yokoyama. The festivities will include exclusive events at the TOEI Animation stand and more surprises.
Amano Corpus Animæ Exhibition
For the first time, Lucca Comics & Games will extend beyond the city walls to Milan’s Fabbrica del Vapore. From November 13, 2024, to March 1, 2025, the exhibition “Amano Corpus Animæ” will showcase over 100 original works, celebrating Yoshitaka Amano’s 50-year career.
Dungeons & Dragons 50th Anniversary
Lucca Comics & Games is dedicating special tributes to the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons. Highlights include:
- “Gateway to Adventure: 50 Years of D&D Art”: A unique exhibition featuring original masterpieces by iconic artists.
- Renaming of San Paolino Bastion Basement: The space will be renamed after Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, the game’s creators.
- Jeremy Crawford’s Presentation: The lead designer of D&D will discuss the game’s present and future.
Tetris 40th Anniversary
Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Tetris with its creator Alexey L. Pajitnov and Henk B. Rogers. They will share insights into the game’s history and its impact on pop culture.
