“The Legend of Longwood” is about an American kid who is forced to move to the Irish town of Longwood. Unfortunately, her arrival is tied to the return of the Black Knight. While learning the history of the Black Knight, she makes friends and meets a cool horse. This is basically an international version of Tina Belcher fan-fiction. But, it’s appealing to girls of a certain age.
There was a mini streak in the 1990s of Irish themed kiddie stories. I don’t what the appeal is there, but damn if there isn’t enough material to keep kiddies glued to the screen. My daughter is a smidge too young, but I watched the 4-10 year old crowd became enamored with this film that I didn’t give a second thought. I find this incredibly fascinating.
The DVD comes with a behind-the-scenes featurette as the sole special feature. The A/V Quality is strong enough. The standard definition transfer is pretty flat, but the Dolby 5.1 track kicks it up. For some reason, a Dolby 2.0 track is included as well. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to parents of young kids.
