The trailer for the upcoming heist thriller Lift starring Kevin Hart officially dropped during Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys FOX broadcast. In a fun promotional stunt, the Eagles mascot Swoop “stole” the trailer from Netflix to debut it during the NFL game.
The footage provides an adrenaline-pumping look at Hart’s new action-packed role. He plays a master thief who gets embroiled in a dangerous last score on a transatlantic flight.
As the trailer reveals, Hart’s character has to deal with authorities and fellow criminals in the air looking to take him down. Lift promises gravity-defying stunts and fights at 30,000 feet.
Directed by F. Gary Gray, Lift also stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Yun Jee Kim, and Jacob Batalon. The script comes from Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert of Everything Everywhere All at Once fame.
The trailer’s unveiling during a high-profile Eagles game helped generate buzz for the film among Hart’s hometown fans. It marked an unconventional strategy of hijacking a live sports broadcast.
Lift is one of many upcoming projects showcasing Hart in more dramatic roles alongside his comedies.
