THE PLOT THUS FAR
WHAT WE THOUGHT
“Italy’s Mystery Mountains” is a look at how the geographic positioning of Italy has led to multiple volcano eruptions, earthquakes and general land changes. The constantly rising mountains has led to huge deposits of marble being able to be sourced from the country. The sheer multitude of marble statues in the country makes sense if you think about it. It’s kind of like how the McDonalds in Northern New England used to be able to serve lobster in stores. If something is that plentiful, then it’s what everyone works with it. So, geology did inform art.
A geological study of Italy doesn’t seem that insanely interesting. But, it’s the implications of what these geographic produced that provides a sense of history that you wouldn’t find on other sources. While most of this material feels better suited for a series of trivial questions, context provides some great moments to educate yourself. I remember a time in this country when that wasn’t such a bad thing. Now, everyone feels like it has to go viral and be passed around by friends to have a degree of truth. Crowdsourcing facts pisses me off to no end, so I’m going to stay inside and keep watching this documentary.
The DVD comes with no special features. But, you’re getting a rather amazing documentary. That’s should be enough for you. The A/V Quality is strong enough with a rather supportive Dolby track. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase to fans of Italy.
