HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS REVIEWED
“Home for the Holidays” is so generic that I tried to find a way to summarize the plot. I ended up writing about a mix of “Christmas with the Kranks” and “The Family Stone”. Then, I tried to find a new way into the material and all I could write about was Clare Danes’ trying to get laid. Then, I got hung up on the edgy cool stuff with Robert Downey Jr. After awhile, I was kinda stunned by the 1990s cool of portraying dysfunction onscreen. Why was this prime movie material? Why didn’t Juliana Hatfield have more hits? Life doesn’t answer the best questions.
