Visionary experimental filmmaker Godfrey Reggio is returning this fall with his latest mesmerizing work, Once Within a Time. Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired North American rights to the film and plans a theatrical release in late 2023.
Reggio’s first feature in a decade, Once Within a Time is an apocalyptic bardic fairy tale captured through stunning cinematography and a hypnotic score by Reggio’s longtime collaborator Philip Glass. Steven Soderbergh served as executive producer.
Known for 1982’s Koyaanisqatsi and other bold non-narrative films, Reggio again delivers an immersive sensory experience challenging conventional storytelling. Oscilloscope calls it “a gorgeous, trippy, thought-provoking, and daring work that will wow and surprise audiences.”
Once Within a Time will premiere at The Museum of Modern Art in September as part of their Reggio/Glass retrospective before its theatrical rollout. Reggio is renowned for his artistic partnership with Glass spanning decades of boundary-pushing cinema.
Fans of Reggio’s signature meditative style can look forward to another singular viewing experience when Once Within a Time hits arthouse cinemas later this year courtesy of Oscilloscope.
Expect his latest avant-garde triumph to mesmerize mind and senses.
