Even Money is a film about how available actors play people dealing with addiction. Kim Basinger is a writer that blew her family’s savings at a casino, Forest Whitaker is trying to ruin his nephew’s burgeoning career. It’s all pretty typical, yet Mark Rydell does his best to stay relevant in a new decade. The end result is something that felt dated in 3 years.
Director Mark Rydell made this recent film with an all-star cast. However, it’s not what you’d call good. There are too many twists and turns that don’t add up to much. Kelsey Grammer feels slightly better at play here than he did in Money Plane. But, what else did you expect?
The Blu-ray comes with the original theatrical trailer. For a film like this, I’m glad that there was at least a special feature. The Yari Film Group had some weird film releases that never broke above the indie premium cable racket. Oh well, check it out!
