Modern rap is dumbed down. You don't say?!?
“Dumb it Down” is the latest documentary out of Moguldom. Coming in under an hour, we get a collection of true rap stars from T-Pain to DJ Clark Kent to MC Lyte discussing how the game has been ruined. Labels push for dumbed down lyrics and the perpetuation of the get rich gangsta aesthetic. All the while, the social consciousness of Chuck D and others has been driven out of the mainstream. While we never get a solid reason why it happened, there are plenty of theories. The DVD comes with deleted scenes and extended interviews as the special features.
