David J Unveils “Tracks From the Attic” – A Treasure Trove of Solo Demos Now Available

Independent Project Records and the legendary David J, known for his seminal work with Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, are thrilled to announce the release of “Tracks From the Attic,” a comprehensive triple album collection. Available in digital, CD, colored vinyl LP, and a highly coveted Super Deluxe Box Set Art Edition, music enthusiasts can dive into this collection starting May 3.

A Deep Dive into David J’s Musical Journey

“Tracks From the Attic” is a meticulously curated selection by David J himself, originally featured as part of Record Store Day’s RSD Black Friday 2023. This collection brings together solo demos recorded on audio-cassette from 1984 to 2004, offering an intimate glimpse into the creative process of one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most influential figures. Even amidst his commitments to Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, David J’s creative wellspring was overflowing, resulting in these recordings that capture moments of inspiration, sometimes on the road and mostly at home, with nothing but a muse, a recorder, and a candle for company.

An Experience Beyond Listening

“Tracks From the Attic” isn’t just an auditory experience; it’s a journey that appeals to the visual and tactile senses as well. The Super Deluxe Box Set Art Edition, limited to 70 numbered and autographed copies, features translucent natural vinyl, a new color scheme cover, and limited edition David J artwork. Each box set also includes actual cassettes from David’s personal archive, making each edition a unique piece of music history.

David J reflects on the recordings, “These were never meant for commercial release. They were quick sketches to capture fleeting ideas. Now, they’re set free to fly.”
