COOTIES

Cooties makes child death fun again.

I can't get over how much I loved this movie.

“Cooties” is one of those insanely easy ideas that I’m shocked hasn’t been ran into the ground. There is something about making children turn into mindless killers that makes one fill with devilish glee. Mixing the natural cruelty of children together with the zombie attack mentality produces something that mixes satire with great horror. After all, what are the best enemies if not what we least suspect? Couple that with Rainn Wilson and Elijah Wood playing off each other immensely well.

Horror has taken it on the chin recently, as there has been a push to call the subpar better than what it is. “Cooties” raises the bar and says that you can laugh at children getting stomped out. Much of that credit goes to co-writer/co-star Leigh Whannell who only seems to be picking up steam outside of the Saw franchise. Whatever this guy does next, I’m there to watch. Well, I’m not down for a second Repo movie.

The Blu-Ray comes with featurettes, deleted/extended/alternate scenes, gag reel, alternate ending and a commentary as the special features. The A/V Quality is stellar for a recent release. The 1080p transfer shows excellent depth and a rich color scheme. The DTS-HD 5.1 master audio track will make you believe that elementary school kids want to eat your face. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase.
