“The Color Out of Space” has always been one of my favorite Lovecraft stories. However, I never expected to see a low budget production nail the atmosphere and feel of the story. Watching as the colorful glow ruins the people it touches while playing against the rising German tide during the 1930s creates something interesting. I wish we had far more horror like this, as mood needs to return to horror. I had never heard of Huan Vu before this, but my eye is on Vu for now on.
The Blu-Ray comes with a limited edition exclusive newspaper inside of the Blu-Ray case. Plus, you get a trailer and a lost scene for the special features. The A/V Quality sports a stellar 1080p transfer for an indie German flick. The Dolby 5.1 track is lossy, but it covers what it needs to cover. In the end, I’d recommend a purchase. But, it’s a limited edition of 1000 copies. Move quickly, horror fans.
