“Broadchurch” returns for a second season. Some viewers have really hated the second year due to not having the intensity of the first. I have to disagree, as the criminal investigation changed shape and became about something more in this sleepy little town. The murder going to trial aspect might set your pants on fire, but it’s a needed approach for criminal justice like this.
David Tennant is continuing to impress on TV years after he left the TARDIS. However, you can overindulge on the man as this season did in its opening episodes. We need a recap, but not that much of one. While I get that he’s haunted by a past case, there’s a better way to present that to the audience. At times, it bordered on parody.
The DVD comes with featurettes, interviews and deleted scenes as the special features. The A/V Quality is quite astounding for standard definition. You get a clean transfer and a loud Dolby 5.1 track. That being said, there’s nothing else to it. If you are a fan, you’ll want to make the purchase.
