BRAVE MISS WORLD REVIEWED
“Brave Miss World” is a documentary about Linor Abargail’s journey to helping other rape survivors. Abargail made international news when she won the Miss World crown roughly a few weeks after being raped. Her attacker was a work friend who had arranged to send her to Milan. The documentary examines the issues of trust and abuse of young women and how it has become institutionalized. Abargail makes peace with her past, but you can see how much it hurts to this day.
The documentary examines how rape victims suffer alone until they find a sense of community. It’s just Abargail keeps offering herself up to bring others forward. The toll in the documentary and the supplemental survivor stories is agonizing. What kills me is the fact that this documentary has flown under my radar for so long. Given the amount of talent behind the scenes working on this release, I’m beyond stunned that I didn’t know it existed until a month ago. Go check it out now!
