“David” is another Bible Stories entry that follows King David from boyhood to King of Israel. The film handles his fight with Goliath and his rise to King with a degree of panache. Still, everyone pales in comparison to Leonard Nimoy in the film. Nimoy’s Samuel was awardworthy in a film that would now just try to appeal to an ever-thinning demographic. While the film lacks the cinematic appeal of other Bible Stories entries, it remains an impressive TV movie. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Franco Nero cameo.
