We recently interviewed Charlene Amoia who is starring on Pureflix streamer Sons of Thunder: Redemption. Many will know her from How I Met Your Mother where she played Wendy the Waitress.

Sons of Thunder: Redemption has just premiered on Pureflix. For those readers that don’t regularly watch Pureflix, can you let us know about your role in it?

Sure. I play Sandy, Jacob’s ex-fiancé. The series begins with Jacob leaving prison and off to seek forgiveness from Sandy for past hurts and mistakes he’s made. My character is initially very angry and hesitant to even speak to him but over time start to open up a bit more.

Did you ever get to improvise as Wendy the Waitress on How I Met Your Mother?

Well, a lot of fans don’t know this but I sang a song called Ted Mosby Is A Jerk that an episode referred to and the creators decided to actually put on a real website for the avid fan to go to. The song was almost 20 minutes between the lyrics and a rant that I went on and most of this was improvised. So I didn’t improv as Wendy but I did as another character.

You were a model before becoming an actress, What was that career shift like? I’ve asked this before and the variety of answers always intrigues me.

Well, I did some local modeling while in school but never thought of it as much of a career choice. It was just the first part of the path that lead me to acting. The modeling was nice supplemental income but something I found a bit boring but acting challenged and intrigued me as soon as I started, as it continues to do so now.

What was it like working on Days of Our Lives?

It was a very fast pace shooting schedule on Days as it was on any soap I’ve ever worked on. Definitely great experiences to have under my belt as Sons of Thunder: Redemption also moved extremely fast though out the whole shooting schedule!

Given the special Motorcycle Redemption show nature of Sons of Thunder: Redemption, how did that change your approach?

The show is essentially about second chances and that love and forgiveness are the way to get there. Knowing that it was written to uplift and inspire I wanted to make sure my character emotionally started in a place very different than when the show ends.  Sandy has the obstacle of having to address old wounds and live through the pain of them again before she can transcend the experience into true healing and a new life.
