The Stranger Beside Me is a TV movie that arrived in 2000. It seems to be getting a Blu-ray release to the sudden rise of interest in Ted Bundy after a string of Netflix releases. Barbara Hershey and Billy Campbell do their best with the material. However, it’s another divorced woman proves her worth in a distant era by tackling something far above her pay grade. You’ve seen this movie before.
Ann Rule is a rather famous True Crime writer who parlayed a friendship with Bundy into a rather expansive career. Having died since the release of this TV movie, it stands that her affiliation with Bundy is the most notable thing about her career. Well, that is unless you count the lawsuits that plagued her estate until her death. But, that’s a story for another time. The Blu-ray comes with no special features, but it does sport the debut movieSPREE offering from Mill Creek. Mill Creek is stepping into that Digital HD game and it’s pretty impressive.
