And Then We Danced is a fascinating film about dancing. Shot in the Republic of Georgia, the movie discusses what it means to be a creative type in a repressed society. LGBT issues get discussed, but it tends to be framed in a melodramatic sense. It’s a great entry film for younger World Cinema viewers. I’m just not sure how much appeal it would have outside of there.
The DVD comes with a commentary, director interview, Q&A and a bit more! The A/V Quality is pretty sharp with a Dolby 5.1 track and clean standard definition transfer. I know there is a Blu-ray release of this one out there, but I didn’t get the chance to cover it.
